Fun With Colors at the Laundromat

Let me just start by saying that my fabulous friend and photographer, Nicole, and I had a blast shooting this brightly colored outfit at the laundromat! Thank you to Nicole for always coming up with fun, creative and unique locations throughout Baltimore to shoot!

With Spring just around the corner, I can't wait to start wearing all my favorite bright colors again! The Pantone Fashion Colors for Spring 2013 are: Lemon Zest, Linen, African Violet, Emerald, Dusk Blue and Monaco Blue...all of which are incorporated in this flowy, kimono style top by Staring at Stars (Urban Outfitters).
Yellow Tank: MaxStudio (Loehmann's); Purple Infinity Scarf: South Moon Under
Gumball machine!! Jeans: J. Crew; Nude Pumps: Restricted (South Moon Under)
Clutch: Jessica McClintock; Earrings: House of Harlow (South Moon Under)
Bracelets: Anthropologie
Love the side braid as an easy way to deal with uncooperative hair!
So get excited to add a pop of one (or two or three!) of Pantone's colors to your closet this Spring!

Kicking it Military Style!

I love the military trend! A cute structured military-inspired blazer over a sheer blouse is the perfect combination for a day at the office or for a casual weekend look - like I've put together here.
Military Blazer: H&M
Grey Suede Boots: Urban Outfitters; Jeans: Rising Starlet by !It (The Bead in Towson, MD)

Apple Print Sheer Blouse: Esley (South Moon Under)
Sunglasses: Coach; Watch: Michael Kors; Bracelets: Poppy & Stella (in Fells Point)
Love this necklace from Whimsy which sadly closed in Federal Hill.
So add a little structure to your closet and try a military blazer this season. You'll find that it can be paired with anything from jeans to a dress!

Menswear-Inspired: Channeling Coco Chanel with a Burst of Gold

While I'm a girly girl at heart, sometimes I like taking fashion cues from the opposite sex. Menswear-inspired women's fashion can be traced back to one of my all-time favorite fashion icons, Coco Chanel. The 20th century's most important and influential fashion designer believed in a modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and a pursuit of expensive simplicity. When channeling Coco and the menswear look, make sure all elements of the outfit are tailored properly and also add feminine touches to help ensure it doesn't look like your borrowing straight out of your boyfriend/husband's closet!

Love the oversize collar and puffy sleeves on this cream-colored jacket by Ryu...they add a vintage-y feel.
Necklace: The Bead (in Towson, MD)
Plaid Pants: Billabong; Suede Nude Heels: Aldo
Purse: Pietro Alessandro (from Babe a Boutique in Fells Point); Layered Gold Bracelets: Katwalk Boutique (in Fells Point), New York & Company and Urban Outfitters; Watch: Michael Kors
Navy Blue Top with Gold Contrast: Gracia from Katwalk Boutique (in Fells Point); Gold Earrings: Image Is Salon (in Cockeysville, MD)

Try a pair of tailored pants with a classic collared shirt but add a twist like this navy and gold Gracia top and a funky statement necklace.
And lastly, in the words of Coco Chanel, "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different."

A Wide Brim Hat and a Antique Car on a Crisp Fall Day

This past Saturday was a very fun and exciting day as my in-laws debuted their 1928 Gardner Model 85 Sport Roadster for the first time since its restoration at the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Fall Meet in Hershey, PA! The car is absolutely stunning and these pictures just don't do it justice! The Gardner also won the AACA First Junior Award!! A huge congratulations!

It was a beautiful, crisp fall day...perfect for an outdoor event and a wide brim hat!!

Add a Little Edge and Rock Some Leather!

Although I'm always a summer girl at heart, one thing I do love about the crisp Fall weather in Baltimore is being able to throw on a cute leather jacket with almost any look. I like mixing the edginess of this brown leather jacket I found at a boutique in NYC with this feminine, sparkly white dress from Anthropologie.
I like finding dresses and skirts with unique hemlines...makes it more interesting!
Leather Jacket: NikiBiki; Dress: Leifnotes (Anthropologie)
Horseshoe Bracelet: Doubledutch Boutique (Hampden, Baltimore City)

Belt: Anthropologie; Love these cute and comfy boots by Rocket Dog
Infinity Scarf: South Moon Under; Earrings: Urban Outfitters; Watch: Michael Kors
I'm loving all the leather I'm seeing this season...fabulous dresses, skirts, tops and pants...and can't wait to add a little more edge to some of the more classic and preppy pieces in my closet!

Wearing White After Labor Day...It's No Longer Breaking the Rules!

Kicking off this Fall season, it seems like everything I read and everywhere I look the fashion world is finally granting us permission to wear white between the months of September and May! I’ve always loved wearing the color white throughout the year…it is timeless and classy… and haven’t been afraid to break this outdated rule; but now I am thrilled that it is one of the key colors for this season. The most important factor in wearing white during the cooler months is choosing the right material. Go with white jeans, wool or heavier cottons vs. anything white linen or light. For this outfit, I wanted to channel a little of that “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” feel (one of my all-time fave movies!) by pairing a black peplum top from South Moon Under with a pair of classic white pants from Ann Taylor.

Necklace: Trifari; Purse: Jazza
Peplum Top: Abbeline (South Moon Under); White Pants: Ann Taylor
Sunglasses: Coach; Earrings: Doubledutch Boutique (Hampden, Baltimore City)
Bracelets: Urban Outfitters, Cute Boutique in St. Paul, MN, Another Cute Boutique in Atlanta, GA (I love finding fun jewelry in the different cities I visit!); Watch: Michael Kors
Black Pumps: Nine West
Love the back of this top with the lace and zipper...conservative in the front...spicy in the back!
So don’t be afraid to incorporate some white into your wardrobe this Fall. And remember, a girl can never go wrong with classic black and white!

Rockin' the Romper!

I love rompers! They are cute, fun and a fabulous alternative to a dress! Dress a romper down with sandals or dress it up with heels and jewelry like I did with this one by Ark & Co. from Hanger Alley in Fells Point! And this amazing purse by Bee it Bags can be either a side bag or a clutch! The owner, Debbie, designs the most fabulous purses!

Earrings - Image Is; Belt - South Moon Under
Black Snake Skin Heels - INC at Macy's; Purse - Bee it Bags

Vegan Leather Jacket - BlankNYC; Watch - Michael Kors; Necklace - House of Harlow

Bracelets - Urban Outfitters and Zoe Boutique in Old Town Alexandria

And make sure to check out Bee it Bags on Facebook!

Don't Be Afraid to Show a Little Color Underneath!

So sometimes there are occasions where showing off a little of your bra strap can be cute, classy and fabulous...but please note, this is not something to be done often and it can go downhill very fast if not worn in a tasteful manner! A color that compliments your outfit is best...no nude and no white showing no matter what! I also recommend a little lace as it adds a nice feminine element.
This particular dress by GLAM, with its unique back, I felt totally called for some fun, flirty color underneath! The coral and green bralette is from Anthropologie.
Earrings are handmade by an artist from Charleston, SC.
On warm evenings like this one, make it easy and throw hair up in a loose, low knot. Then when you're back in the A/C and let your hair down, there's a nice wave to it!
Necklace - Francesca's Collections; Bracelets - Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie
I was totally drawn to the gorgeous colors and patterns of this dress! Plus I'm adoring the high-low trend in dresses (like this one) and skirts.
Watch - Michael Kors; Purse - Lilly Pulitzer; Gold Wedges - Mix No6
Absolutely love beautiful summer evenings in Fells Point!
