Taking a Low Key Tee to the Next Level

I love finding comfy tees that can go from a chill Saturday afternoon running errands to out on the town Saturday night...and this one by Brokedown from South Moon Under was a perfect find! This Spring is all about pairing the low key such as tees with the fancy such as statement necklaces and earrings.
Black Leather Crossover Bag: Nine West;
Black Vegan Leather Jacket: BlankNYC (South Moon Under)
Love adding a pop of leopard print to an outfit! Leopard Print Flats: Nine West
Grey Bracelet: Anthropologie
Initial Necklace: South Moon Under; Long Necklace: Ann Taylor: Initial Bracelet: Alex and Ani; Earrings: Jewels (Ruxton, MD)
Some of my favorite fashion trends include pairing the unexpected...for example I love being able to take something super comfortable and dressing it up! So this season, try one of your cute and comfy tees with a sparkly, bold necklace and go from super chill to super fabulous!

Fun With Colors at the Laundromat

Let me just start by saying that my fabulous friend and photographer, Nicole, and I had a blast shooting this brightly colored outfit at the laundromat! Thank you to Nicole for always coming up with fun, creative and unique locations throughout Baltimore to shoot!

With Spring just around the corner, I can't wait to start wearing all my favorite bright colors again! The Pantone Fashion Colors for Spring 2013 are: Lemon Zest, Linen, African Violet, Emerald, Dusk Blue and Monaco Blue...all of which are incorporated in this flowy, kimono style top by Staring at Stars (Urban Outfitters).
Yellow Tank: MaxStudio (Loehmann's); Purple Infinity Scarf: South Moon Under
Gumball machine!! Jeans: J. Crew; Nude Pumps: Restricted (South Moon Under)
Clutch: Jessica McClintock; Earrings: House of Harlow (South Moon Under)
Bracelets: Anthropologie
Love the side braid as an easy way to deal with uncooperative hair!
So get excited to add a pop of one (or two or three!) of Pantone's colors to your closet this Spring!

Winter White into Spring

White is one of my favorite colors! It never goes out of style...in the winter it gives your skin a glow...in the summer it makes you look tanner...and it looks fabulous paired with pretty much any other color...including white!

And to keep this white on white outfit a little more on the casual side, I untucked on one side...a trend I'm seeing in the magazines and on the streets.

White Sequin Jacket: Matty M (South Moon Under); White Tee: Survival (The Bead, Towson, MD); Watch: Victorinox Swiss Army
Nude Heels: Restricted (South Moon Under); Earrings: Poppy & Stella;
Necklace: Tiffany & Co.
Bracelets: J. Crew and Forever 21
Pants: New York & Company
So as we transition from winter to spring, try pairing a little white on white for a classic party look to celebrate the warmer weather and sunshine that's just around the corner!

Bold Blouse, Bold Bracelet

First off...does anyone else remember the topsy turvy ponytail?? I had completely forgotten about it and then one day when looking for something different to do with my hair...it totally came back to me! Blast from the past!!

So anyways...about the outfit...I love finding bold blouses to pair with skinny jeans and boots during the winter months...and this blouse by Odille from Anthropologie totally caught my eye with the big bursts of orange flowers, the billowy sleeves and the buttons in the back. As I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of tops with details in the back...that way you're making a statement even when you leave a room!

Boots: Madden Girl by Steve Madden; Jeans: Rising Starlet by !It (The Bead, Towson, MD)
Large Link Bracelet:Jewels (Ruxton, Baltimore, MD); Orange Cuff Bracelet: Anthropologie
Earrings: Jewels (Ruxton, Baltimore, MD); Watch: Michael Kors; The warm orange infinity scarf was a gift from my fabulous and stylish Mother :)
Purse: Pietro Alessandro (Babe a Boutique, Fells Point)

So my recommendation for today...try a bold blouse...whether it's the print, the sleeves, the back or all three!

A Subtle Mix of Stripes and Flowers

Flipping through my fave fashion magazines, blogs and Pinterest, I've seen stripes being paired with flowers. I love mixing patterns but this one I wasn't so sure about...so I decided to try the look in a more subtle way...a stripe top under a sheer sweater with a floral patterned statement necklace...and I have to say that I think I'm sold!

Sweater: Wooden Ships (Babe a Boutique in Fells Point); Striped Top: BB Dakota (South Moon Under)
Leather Leggings: Two by Vince Camuto (Nordstrom); Purse: JPK Paris 75; Fedora: Banana Republic
The floral statement necklace was a gift from my fabulous Aunt!
Sunglasses: Lacoste; Bracelets: Ann Taylor; Earrings: House of Harlow
Whenever there's a new style or trend out there that you like but aren't totally sure about...I encourage you to test drive it with a more subtle approach to see if it really does work with your style! This Spring I'll definitely try taking this trend to the next level by pairing one of my fave striped tops with a fun floral print skirt!

Kicking it Military Style!

I love the military trend! A cute structured military-inspired blazer over a sheer blouse is the perfect combination for a day at the office or for a casual weekend look - like I've put together here.
Military Blazer: H&M
Grey Suede Boots: Urban Outfitters; Jeans: Rising Starlet by !It (The Bead in Towson, MD)

Apple Print Sheer Blouse: Esley (South Moon Under)
Sunglasses: Coach; Watch: Michael Kors; Bracelets: Poppy & Stella (in Fells Point)
Love this necklace from Whimsy which sadly closed in Federal Hill.
So add a little structure to your closet and try a military blazer this season. You'll find that it can be paired with anything from jeans to a dress!

Menswear-Inspired: Channeling Coco Chanel with a Burst of Gold

While I'm a girly girl at heart, sometimes I like taking fashion cues from the opposite sex. Menswear-inspired women's fashion can be traced back to one of my all-time favorite fashion icons, Coco Chanel. The 20th century's most important and influential fashion designer believed in a modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and a pursuit of expensive simplicity. When channeling Coco and the menswear look, make sure all elements of the outfit are tailored properly and also add feminine touches to help ensure it doesn't look like your borrowing straight out of your boyfriend/husband's closet!

Love the oversize collar and puffy sleeves on this cream-colored jacket by Ryu...they add a vintage-y feel.
Necklace: The Bead (in Towson, MD)
Plaid Pants: Billabong; Suede Nude Heels: Aldo
Purse: Pietro Alessandro (from Babe a Boutique in Fells Point); Layered Gold Bracelets: Katwalk Boutique (in Fells Point), New York & Company and Urban Outfitters; Watch: Michael Kors
Navy Blue Top with Gold Contrast: Gracia from Katwalk Boutique (in Fells Point); Gold Earrings: Image Is Salon (in Cockeysville, MD)

Try a pair of tailored pants with a classic collared shirt but add a twist like this navy and gold Gracia top and a funky statement necklace.
And lastly, in the words of Coco Chanel, "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different."
